Hi Katy. Feels like a coffee percolator to me. My bit is the daily grind. God provides the slow drip waters. I obsess about the brew right up until the shots are dispensed. Then it’s over to the taste buds of others. And this all happens amid the pots and pans!
Working on another short right now and I’ll be antsy until I can see it on the page as a fair reflection of how it first flared in my heart. Does this resonate?
Dear Adrian, for sure it does: what a delightful image, the old-school coffee process! And "amid the pots & pans," St. Theresa would approve. Best wishes with your new story!
Be interested to learn how you visualise it, Katy. The novel form has so far eluded me - always feels like such a slog! The Carver ‘get in, get out’ vision is definitely driving me more into the arms of the short story. Well, that and middle-age attention shred. My spiritual mentor is St Flann so am also wondering if she’s enjoying kicking the ole nest.
